Woolworths and Chemist Warehouse have pulled a popular shampoo from their shelves after a bacteria scare.
The shampoo, produced by A’kin, was found to be contaminated with a bacteria that can cause skin infections.
The bottles of A’kin Mild & Gentle Shampoo Fragrance Free & Hypoallergenic have been recalled because of possible contamination of Enterobacter Gergoviae.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has issued a recall of the shampoo and is urging anyone who has purchased it to return it to the store for a full refund.
The recall is for 500ml bottles of the shampoo that retails for $26.95 at some stores.
The recall was for the batch with the number “AW2D01”.
The shampoo is sold at Woolworths, David Jones, Priceline, Chemist Warehouse and other pharmacies, and the affected batch is believed to be on sale until September 15.
