Samsung phones now making parts with fishing nets

Samsung is now using recycled materials including repurposed fishing nets and used water bottles to make its parts. The firm says its ‘’ Galaxy for the planet’’ based on five years plan for the elimination of plastics and to stop manufacturing wastes going to land.

Many experts welcomed the decision. In the process, nylon fishing nets will be turned into polyamide resin pellets. And discarded water bottles will be used to create components.

Forrester analyst Thomas Husson said that there was still ‘’ much to do. Today, most consumers have no clue how damaging it is for the planet to regularly renew their smartphones hardware. Once they realise, sustainability will become a key way to differentiate between premium smartphone brands.’’

Others say it’s encouraging to see Samsung taking the initiative and efforts to improve sustainability. Meanwhile, Samsung also unveiled a new line of tablets including Galaxy Tab S8 and S8+ with high-resolution screens, S-Pens and optional 5G.

Though, according to Forrester, Samsung lags behind Apple in the majority of the markets. And the launch of this initiative will bring new opportunities for Samsung Company. It’s beneficial both for the company and the environment.
