Apple Warn AirTag users not to use the device to track people

Apple AirTag was designed to discourage unwanted tracking, however, apple recently warns users not to use the device to track people. The tracking device was developed by Apple to act as a key finder, and assist people to find their objects. However, things are turning up the other way around. People are using the device to commit crimes.

Apple moves to stop the misuse of the device

Apple plans to bring changes in the device to make it harder to misuse AirTag to commit crimes. The company says that the changes to the device will make suspicious tags easier to find and alert users that AirTag is travelling with them.

It is worrying that the people hide the device or on personal items such as bags, cars etc. Besides changes in the AirTag, new users will get a message that tracking people without consent is a crime.

Unwanted Tracking Alert

The company says unwanted tracking is a societal problem, and Apple takes this issue seriously. The company has built the device considering privacy and end-to-end user encryption. Additionally, it has a first-ever proactive system to alert users of unwanted tracking.

Also, Apple is working with law enforcement agencies and safety groups to ensure customers’ safety. Though, the company says the incidents of misuse are rare but the instance is one too many. Meanwhile, experts believe AirTags are themselves new, and Apple hasn’t yet figured out how best to protect people.

For example, it took Apple six months to alert Android users to an unwanted AirTag. Moreover, the changes brought by Apple in precision finding and AirTag have louder noises. Also, experts believe that the question will remain about the early launch of the product.
