Oracle ceased business in Russia, while SAP halted sales

Following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, software giant Oracle has ceased all operations in Russia, while competitor SAP has also declared a halt in all sales in the country.

Oracle and its Twitter declaration came approximately three hours after Ukraine’s minister of digital transformation tweeted to the two corporations, requesting assistance.

Oracle did not react to questions for clarification on its tweet, which stated that the business “had already ceased all activities in the Russian Federation.”

SAP called economic sanctions on Russia “an crucial mechanism in the attempts to restore peace” in a blog post.

“We are ceasing operations in Russia in accordance with sanctions, as well as halting all sales of SAP services and products in Russia,” CEO Christian Klein wrote.

In addition to an initial 1 million euros (A$1.5 million) in humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, he stated that SAP has “also volunteered to transform our office space at sites around Europe into warehouses and shelter for migrants.”
