Financial services company AMP has successfully completed an enterprise-wide human capital management (HCM) project to consolidate 12 HR-related systems into a single Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM platform. This consolidation has enabled AMP to achieve central visibility and evidence of “documented goals, check-ins, and performance reviews” for more than 90 percent of its 3,000 employees.
Consolidation Project: The business case for the consolidation project was approved in early 2021, with Oracle modules deployed progressively from April 2022. AMP’s internal technology team and KPMG were involved in the deployment process.
Core Processes on Oracle Platform: AMP has migrated all core HR processes to the Oracle platform, including recruitment, talent management, core transactions, learning management, conduct, case management, and servicing.
Decommissioned Systems: With the functionality live in Oracle, AMP decommissioned several legacy systems, including PageUp for recruitment, Saba for learning management, a Microsoft Forms database for performance management, and SAP for payroll.
Selective Data Migration: AMP did not migrate all historical data from the retired legacy systems into Oracle to expedite the project. Some historical data, such as recruitment and learning records, was retained for regulatory purposes.
Data Quality Improvements: The project team is addressing residual data quality challenges, particularly related to granular reporting. Data is exported to a data warehouse and presented in Power BI dashboards.
Benefits of the New Platform: The Oracle platform is enabling AMP to focus more on talent development and build capabilities. It has also improved the consistency of HR services.
Alignment with Business Transformation: The HR transformation project aligns with AMP CEO Alexis George’s broader business transformation agenda.
Future Plans
AMP plans to leverage more capabilities on the Oracle platform to enhance self-service for employees. It is exploring the use of Oracle Journeys for managing the employee lifecycle and may deploy an Oracle digital assistant (chatbot) in the future. The company is also considering rationalizing its employee help channels.
AMP’s consolidation of HR systems into a unified platform has not only improved data visibility but also positioned the company to enhance employee self-service and streamline HR processes in alignment with its broader business transformation goals.
