The Department of Customer Service (DCS) in New South Wales, Australia, is undergoing a significant shift in its identity management system. Instead of relying on self-hosted solutions, they are transitioning to a Software as a Service (SaaS) model.
According to a contract published in late September, Baidam Solutions has been awarded a project worth just over $5.7 million, scheduled to continue until September 2026. The primary objective of this procurement is to consolidate various contracts within the DCS cluster, streamlining the migration to a SaaS solution as an alternative to the current on-premises software.
A spokesperson from DCS has highlighted the advantages of this move, emphasizing benefits such as enhanced scalability, reliability, and capability. This strategic shift to SailPoint SaaS offering enables DCS to continue delivering and improving digital government services for the people of New South Wales.
SailPoint plays a crucial role in managing employee permissions, digital identities, information security, and data access. It also handles tasks like onboarding and offboarding of accounts, application access, and user access reviews.
Notably, in October 2022, DCS expanded its usage of SailPoint licenses significantly, increasing the count from 4,500 to 23,000. Additionally, in August 2022, private equity firm Thoma Bravo acquired SailPoint for an impressive $6.9 billion.
