Kathrine Dyer, the chief operating officer of NBN Co, is leaving

NBN Co’s chief operating officer, Kathrine Dyer, is set to depart the company this year after a tenure of nearly 13 years. CEO Stephen Rue announced her departure in a letter to staff, as reported by CommsDay.

Dyer joined NBN Co in 2010, only a year and a half after its establishment. Initially, she held a regional role overseeing new developments. Over the years, she progressed through various positions, serving as executive general manager of regional deployment, chief network deployment officer in 2017, and finally assuming the role of COO in 2020.

Rue praised Dyer as an exceptional leader and colleague, who has mentored many individuals and championed diversity within the organization. He highlighted her efforts in promoting a safety-oriented approach across internal and external delivery teams, overcoming significant challenges to improve customer service, and managing the construction and operations of one of the world’s largest and most intricate infrastructure projects.

In a concise statement, Dyer expressed her deep connection to NBN Co, stating that it had been her life since joining in 2010. She acknowledged that leaving was not an easy decision and expressed gratitude for the privilege of working alongside her colleagues. Dyer mentioned her intention to take a break and contemplate her next adventure.

Prior to her tenure at NBN Co, Dyer spent over 16 years at Telstra before making the transition.
