iCare NSW, the insurance and care provider in New South Wales, has selected five companies to share nearly $60 million in application development work as part of an application development panel contract. The contract, valued at an estimated $305 million by June 2026, aims to support iCare’s IT systems across its various insurance schemes.
Chosen Companies for the Application Development Panel
The companies chosen for the application development panel include Accenture, Adactin Group, Infosys, Cognizant, Deloitte, and Hyland Australia. Among these, Adactin Group, Accenture, Cognizant, Infosys, and Deloitte have each been awarded equal contracts worth $11.9 million for their contributions to the panel. Hyland Australia has secured a smaller contract valued at $1.7 million.
Scope of Work and Open Market Engagement
The specific tasks under these contracts are described as “managed and outsourced services.” iCare initiated an open market engagement process to establish the panel of IT vendors capable of providing application development services as needed over a five-year period. These vendors will support iCare’s diverse insurance schemes.
Flexibility and Financial Considerations
iCare emphasized that the establishment of the panel does not obligate them to engage any specific vendor or commit to a minimum spending amount over the contract’s term. The initial estimated contract value of $350 million is considered a generic estimate and will be adjusted based on the actual spending with each vendor.
Continued IT Enhancements
This move comes after iCare previously signed Capgemini for a $38 million project involving the development of a claims management system on AWS, using Guidewire software. Despite past criticisms of its dealings with Capgemini, iCare is continuing its efforts to enhance its IT capabilities and services. The selection of multiple vendors for the application development panel further demonstrates iCare’s commitment to bolstering its technology infrastructure.
