Woolworths Group has begun to experience noticeable growth in digital and ecommerce as a result of the success of its technology and analytics platforms.
Ecommerce sales increased by 39 percent to $6.263 billion during the 2022 fiscal year, according to CEO Brad Banducci, making it “another milestone year for digital and ecommerce.”
With an average of over 19 million customers each week across digital platforms throughout the year, Banducci noted that “customers are also engaging with our websites and applications more regularly.”
“As our size grows and as we continue to optimise our processes, we are becoming even more efficient across all of our online companies,” the company said.
The store currently has about 1 million active weekly online shoppers.
Woolworths’ data-driven marketing company Cartology, whose income increased by 29 percent, is “clearly a vitally significant platform for our group,” according to Banducci. This growth is “backed by robust traffic… to our digital properties and the launch of new media offerings.”
A number of digital start-ups, including PetCulture, HealthyLife, and Metro60, are being nurtured by Woolworths as well. According to Woolworths, these companies “are driving innovation for our group as we continue to learn from, and invest in, their growth and development.”
