ANZ Banking Group has chosen Maria Milosavljevic as its next Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to replace retiring Lynwen Connick in October. Milosavljevic, currently serving as the Defence’s inaugural Chief Data Integration Officer.
She will assume the CISO role at ANZ. Connick, who held the position since 2017, is recognized for her significant impact on the bank’s cybersecurity initiatives.
Milosavljevic’s responsibilities as ANZ’s CISO will encompass the development of the bank’s information security strategy, including addressing cybersecurity challenges and supporting ANZ’s digital transformation. Gerard Florian, Group Executive Technology and Group Services, described her as an innovative leader with extensive experience in data and security across government and private sectors.
Florian also emphasized Milosavljevic’s connections within the cybersecurity community as a valuable asset for protecting ANZ and its customers.
Prior to her appointment at ANZ, Milosavljevic held key positions such as the Chief Data Officer and later the CISO at Services Australia. She also served as the CISO for the NSW Department of Customer Service, the CIO and CISO at the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC), and the CISO and subsequently the CIO at the Australian Crime Commission.
In 2021, she joined NSW’s inaugural artificial intelligence committee, contributing to the development of the state’s AI assurance framework and advising the government on AI usage.
