Macquarie’s bank CISO leaves for Endeavor Group

Steven Rebello, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of Macquarie’s banking and financial services division, will transition to the CISO role at Endeavor Group next month.

Rebello, who took over as BFS CISO in April 2022, has been with Macquarie in various security roles for nearly eight years. Endeavor Group, the parent company of retailers such as Dan Murphy’s and BWS, announced that Rebello will join its team and report to Group CIO Claire Smith.

“Steven’s addition to the technical leadership team comes at a critical time as we progress through the multi-year One Endeavor Transformation program, reinforcing the company’s commitment to cybersecurity and innovation,” Smith said such

Rebelo was selected following an extensive market search, where his more than 20 years’ experience in cybersecurity in banking and insurance was central to Macquarie Bank where he led security efforts particularly in the bank’s multi-year digital transformation strategy.

In his statement, Rebello expressed his eagerness to “ensure that the security posture of the organization remains strong through the [single-attempt change] process and beyond.”

Rebello’s last day at Macquarie Group is set for Friday, May 24. It is unclear whether an interim CISO has been appointed or whether a permanent replacement has been identified.
