The Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA) and HL7 Australia are launching a training program in May to address the shortage of healthcare software developers skilled in the standards needed to achieve interoperability.
The partnership with CSIRO and the University of Melbourne will provide training for the Fast Healthcare Interoperable Resource (FHIR) standard, with the aim of breaking down silos in healthcare IT.
The partners will offer 370 developer training places in 2023, with expressions of interest now open on HL7 Australia’s website. The FHIR standard uses familiar internet protocols and security protocols, and the training will cover regulations and data requirements, as well as business workflows in the clinical environment.
If successful, the program will address the shortage of skilled developers with tangible outcomes this year.
