Q. What inspired you to become a web designer, and how did you get started in the industry?
Gal: I became inspired to become a web designer as a child growing up in the 90s, where I developed a strong interest in building websites. In fact, I built my first website in 1997. It wasn’t until I designed my first website for a paid client in 2004 that I realized my passion for web design and knew that it was what I wanted to pursue as a career.
Q. Can you tell us about your experience in web design and what makes you stand out from other designers?
Gal: When it comes to web design, my experience sets me apart from others in the field. Specifically, I’ve been using WordPress for web design since 2010, giving me a level of expertise that few others can match. Additionally, what makes me stand out is my unique combination of development skills and graphic design expertise, which not all designers possess. I know how to code, and I also know how to communicate and manage clients and web projects effectively. This makes me a well-rounded and valuable asset to any team.
Q. What led you to start Vibes Design, and what kind of services do you offer to clients?
Gal: Vibes Design began as a small Flash Microsite designed to showcase my web and animation skills, which I created as a prerequisite for entry into the Bachelor of Design (Games) at RMIT Melbourne University. Over time, Vibes Design grew into a full-service design agency offering a wide range of services to clients, including web design and development, graphic design, animation, branding, and more. Our focus is on creating high-quality, visually stunning designs that meet our clients’ unique needs and help them achieve their business goals.
Q. How do you work with clients to develop a custom web design strategy that meets their unique needs and goals?
Gal: At Vibes Design, we work closely with clients to create custom web design strategies that meet their unique needs and goals. We begin with a video call to discuss their business and online challenges, and then create a sitemap and wireframes to structure the website’s content and layout. Finally, we move on to the design phase, collaborating with clients at every stage to ensure their needs and goals are met. Communication is key, and we strive to keep our clients informed and involved throughout the process.
Q. What are some common mistakes you see businesses make when designing their own website, and how can they avoid them?
Gal: Businesses often make mistakes when designing their website, such as hiring low-cost web designers who use templates instead of tailoring the design to the business model. Using stock images can also decrease credibility, while using massive images in the wrong format can lead to slow loading times and lower organic rankings. Lastly, businesses often forget to focus on mobile design, which is where the majority of their users will view the website.

Gal: To stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in web design, I subscribe to web design award websites and receive web trends newsletters daily. I also follow some of the best UX designers from around the world. I’m passionate about web design, and I believe that passion is reflected in the quality of my work.
