GirlsDoPorn and GirlsDoToys sites had been the subject of long-legal battles. People tricked into making explicit videos for these websites have been awarded the rights to the videos. Furthermore, right to millions of dollars in damages. The US Department of Justice has governed that rights to videos and images. More than 400 victims can now ask for the websites to remove online footage. They are likely to enforce notices ordering the sites including Pornhub and google, to take down their videos and images.
GirlsDoPorn
Ruben Andre Garcia producer at GirlsDoPorn was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison in the summer. He was blamed for pressuring women into appearing in sex videos. He is also known by a name called Jonathan. Initially, the women were asked to adverts for clothed modeling work. However, later they were told that they would be highly paid for anonymous adult video shoots.
According to women who appeared on the website ‘’GirlsDoPorn’’ videos, the producer Jonathan forced them into filmed sex acts. And also lied about the true nature of the shoot. Furthermore, he convinced the women that their videos would be published only on DVDs and sold overseas. Even though, he knew the illegally obtained videos were being posted on the most visited website Pornhub.
Compensation
Under the terms of the order, Jonathan is ordered to pay $18m in compensation and also hand over the images and video rights to the victims. US strict Judge Janis Sammartino’s order grants the video rights to 402 Victims, who can now ‘’takedown’’ their videos. It will be under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act against GirlsDoPorn that continues to allow the films to be shown. The victims have been asking for justice since 2016.
Southern California District Acting US attorney Randy Grossman said, ‘’ This is an extremely important ruling that returns power to the victims by giving them control of the images and videos that caused them so much pain and suffering.’’ He added, ‘’ we hope this helps the victims close a different chapter in this lives.’’
Moreover, the FBI Special agent in Charge Suzanne Turner said, ‘’ an important step in this long-healing process is for the victims to be able to take back control of their lives.’’
Michael James Pratt said, ‘’ this ruling helps to facilitate that shift while the FBI aggressively pursue the lone outstanding fugitive in this case.’’
Previously, the Pornhub parent company had settled a lawsuit brought by 50 women who were the victim of a sex-trafficking operation.
