Microsoft may be considering introducing a cheaper, ad-supported Xbox Game Pass tier, according to a recent survey reportedly conducted by the company. The survey, which was posted on the Resetera forum by user AImalexia, was sent to a friend and appears to be in Spanish.
The hypothetical subscription plans presented in the survey include a family plan that would give access to Game Pass benefits to multiple people and consoles, and a cheaper, ad-supported plan that would still come with most, but not all, of Game Pass’s benefits.
If this survey is anything to go by, then gamers may soon have the option of a cheaper Xbox Game Pass tier. The ad-supported plan is a great way for those who are on a budget to access the same content and features as those on the regular Game Pass subscription. However, there may be some drawbacks to the ad-supported plan, as it will likely not come with all of the benefits of the full subscription.
Microsoft has already confirmed the family plan, with the plan being tested in at least two countries as of September. However, no official mention or hint of an ad-supported plan has been made by the company outside of the reported survey.
The ad-supported plan, costing approximately €3 (~AU$5) a month, is approximately half the cost of the least expensive Game Pass plan, and would include online play, similar to Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
