James Wilson, who was recently appointed as WooliesX’s new chief digital technology officer (CDTO), announced his selection for the position.

Wilson claimed in a LinkedIn post that he had devoted the last two months to learning about the Woolworths industry.

I’ve worked at retail establishments, fulfilment centres, and early-morning delivery runs, he wrote.

“I’ve never gone through an entrance into a new role that was so deliberate, careful, and beautifully intense. This has been quite useful for me as I learn about this new business. It is a testament to Woolies’ commitment to its customers and teamwork.

Wilson joined WooliesX from CBA, where he served as head engineer for x15ventures, the bank’s venture-scaling division, and as a recognised engineer.

He has also held software engineering positions with companies like Apple and AWS in the past.

Nick Eshkenazi, who left WooliesX back in July, gets replaced by Wilson.

In September, Eshkenazi was named chief digital officer of Prezzee, a multinational digital gifting company.
