According to TechCrunch reports, Whatsapp is introducing support for passkey verification on iOS. The messaging application is removing a need for users to deal with SMS one-time passcodes.
Recently, whatsapp has been working on updates to make the application more user friendly. Whatsapp has previously introduced passkey support on android. Following the recent update, the App is launching passkey verification.
According to the company’s announcement on wednesday, the new feature is rolling out now.In the upcoming weeks, the feature will be available to all iOS users in the world. The users can log back into the application using passkey verification via facial recognition,Pin or biometrics. The passkey will make it more secure, and harder for remote access to your accounts.
Having a passkey removes the need for username and password combination which makes it easy to phish. To set up the verification method, users can go on their app setting.
Whatsapp is following other companies that have recently launched passkeys including Google, Paypal , TikTOk and X formally known as Twitter.
