Westpac’s chief of technology has been promoted to a mortgage post

Chris Boje, Westpac’s head of technology business financing, will now oversee the bank’s end-to-end mortgages and general insurance lines of business.

Boje said on LinkedIn that he is “thrilled” to announce that he has accepted the position of head of technology for mortgages after filling in for the past six months.

After Joanne Walker left to join EY as its new Oceania financial services technology consulting partner, Boje took over the temporary job.

“I am honoured to be trusted to oversee the CIO technology unit for the consumer and business bank’s largest business line,” Boje stated.

“I’ve truly liked my stint as the director of business lending technologies.”

“I will continue to assist this firm while a search is launched for a suitable candidate to lead this incredible team forward,” Boje said.

His new responsibilities will include St George, Bank SA, Bank of Melbourne, and home lending subsidiary RAMS, among Westpac’s other brands.

For over a year, Boje served as Westpac’s head of technology for auto finance before taking on the dual role of acting director of technology mortgage and directing business lending technology.

Boje has been with the national bank for about 18 years, rising through the ranks of the digital and technology departments.

His most prominent responsibilities outside of his current remit include head of technology for commercial and specialty finance, where he headed an 80-person team and directed the development of technology strategy and solutions.
