Despite Covid-19 being the “most disruptive” year, Wesfarmers recorded $4 billion in online sales. As Australia’s largest listed company, it has improved its e-commerce capabilities and omnichannel offers.

Rob Scott, Managing director of Wesfarmers said its financial year’’ was the most disruptive period we’ve experienced through the pandemic’’, though, it provided an opportunity to ‘’ demonstrate our commitment to our core objective.’’
Opportunities brought up by the digitization and decarbonization
According to Scott, the company has taken advantage of ‘’ opportunities arising from the digitisation and decarbonisation of the economy’’ in recent years. Scott said Wesfarmers has changed “the portfolio and invested in existing businesses, creating new platforms” including the launch of OneDigital.
Scott said that we continue to develop omnichannel offers, optimize and expand store networks and also develop deeper digital engagement with customers. He further added, “We’ve made investments to modernize and digitize our supply chain and fulfilment capabilities.” All these steps are taken to strengthen our data analytics and capabilities at the divisional level.
Acquisition of the Australian Pharmaceutical Industries
Meanwhile, Wesfarmers also finalized the acquisition of the Australian Pharmaceutical Industries (API). Which lay the foundation business for its health division. According to the director, the firm development did not slow down in any retail brands. Meanwhile reported good results and progress over the years.
The firm continued to invest to strengthen Bunning’s customer offer. Scott said, ‘’ this included the ongoing expansion of data digital capabilities. Which are driving greater personalization and digitization across both DIY and commercial customers.” Revenue increased 5.2 percent to $5.2 percent to $17.8 billion for the year.
The company allows its staff to better assist customers by introducing new-in-store technology. Also, introducing new web platforms and improved search functions for improvement. These new changes will bring transformation and make customers’ online shopping a better experience.
