VMIA Welcomes New Chief Information Officer

The Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) has announced the appointment of David Martin as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO). VMIA, which serves as the insurance and risk advisor for the Victorian government, introduced Martin as its CIO through a LinkedIn post. Martin, in response, expressed his excitement about contributing to the organization’s success and making a positive impact in the industry.

David Martin takes over the role previously held by Paul Dulfer, who served as VMIA’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for five years. Dulfer, a former CIO of the Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA) and the State Revenue Office in Victoria, announced his plans for a career shift several months ago. His departure led to a recruitment campaign to find his successor.

Martin’s Background and Experience

David Martin brings a wealth of experience to VMIA, having held various C-Level IT positions in organizations like VicRoads and the Department of Transport in the state of Victoria. He has also served as Chief Data Officer in the state’s Department of Transport. With his diverse background, Martin is poised to contribute to VMIA’s ongoing initiatives and objectives.

VMIA’s Scope of Services

VMIA’s role encompasses a range of insurance services, including domestic building insurance for incomplete or faulty building work in Victoria. The organization also offers medical indemnity insurance for public health service providers in the state, along with cyber insurance policies and other types of insurance coverage.

David Martin’s appointment as the new CIO reflects VMIA’s commitment to maintaining its crucial role in providing insurance and risk advisory services to the Victorian government. With his leadership and experience, Martin is expected to guide VMIA in its efforts to ensure reliable and effective insurance coverage for various aspects of public services and infrastructure.
