Virgin Australia, in its ongoing effort to enhance the travel experience, has introduced a new digital baggage tracking tool for over two-thirds of its domestic network. This initiative is part of the airline’s broader transformation program, which aims to offer passengers an improved and seamless journey.
The release of this baggage tracking tool is a significant milestone in Virgin Australia’s ongoing digital innovation endeavors. As a response to the evolving needs of travelers, this tool is designed to provide greater convenience and peace of mind.
Tool Availability and Functionality
The new tool, which officially launched on Tuesday, is currently accessible to customers on specific flights departing from airports situated along the east coast, Tasmania, and Adelaide. The airline plans to extend its availability to more destinations in its domestic network, including flights departing from Perth, in the near future.
The tool can be activated within the airline’s app, and it enables users to receive push notifications about their baggage location and carousel pickup. This real-time information delivery system intends to minimize concerns about misplaced baggage.
Investment in Digital Innovation
Virgin Australia’s introduction of the baggage tracking tool aligns with its substantial investment of $400 million in digital innovation, technology advancements, and initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall customer experience. The airline’s digital transformation has already encompassed new websites, apps, onboard Wi-Fi services, and loyalty management systems.
Paul Jones, the group chief customer and digital officer at Virgin Australia, emphasized the airline’s understanding of passengers’ concerns about lost baggage. He expressed confidence that the new baggage tracking tool will offer an additional layer of comfort to travelers, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to delivering an enhanced travel experience.
