Virgin Australia Enhances IT Visibility with New Relic’s Observability Platform

Virgin Australia has expanded its IT visibility and incident resolution capabilities by adopting New Relic’s observability platform. The airline integrated the platform across its mobile applications, websites, and containerized workloads, enabling better monitoring, identification of vulnerabilities, and efficient incident resolution.

Additionally, Virgin Australia started using New Relic’s log management tool, which employs machine learning to analyze large volumes of log data and identify patterns. This approach has reduced noise and improved actionable alerting, allowing the airline to proactively detect and resolve incidents.

Simon Lawrence, Virgin Australia’s Head of Infrastructure and Support, highlighted the benefits of shared real-time data access via New Relic’s dashboard. It has enabled different IT teams to collaborate effectively in identifying and resolving incidents, ultimately leading to a seamless end-user experience. The enhanced incident resolution process has also freed up developers’ time, allowing them to invest in new projects and innovations, such as the unique “middle-seat lottery” introduced by Virgin Australia.
