Victorian MP Andy Meddick’s daughter Hospitalized after alleged attack

Melbourne- The daughter of Animal Justice Party MP Andy Meddick daughter allegedly attacked Melbourne Street. The PM says she was attacked for being ‘’too political’’.  Kielan Meddick, 25 on an Instagram story said that she was forced to run for help after being left bleeding in an attack on Smith Street, where a man threw a spray can at her head.

She said, ‘’ tonight on Smith Street in Fitzroy I was attacked by a man for being political ’’he chased me down the street as I called for help he threw a spray can at my head.’’

‘’ I started bleeding a lot as I kept running until I made it to the 86.’’ She also shared that once she get inside, they closed the doors and treated her wounds.

Victoria Police statement

In a statement, Victoria police said that Kielan had been spray painting over a poster. A man approach her around 11 pm when the two of them got into argument.

They said, ‘’ the pair argued before the woman threw the spray can towards the man as she attempted to leave the scene.’’

They added that the man followed the woman and threw spray over her. During spray, she was struck by the can at the back of her head.

A spokesperson said that the man left the scene as staff nearby helped the women. Later, she went to the hospital to treat minor injuries.

Meddick Fear over the incident

In a statement on Friday, an Animal Justice Party MP, Meddick said his ‘’ worst fears have turned into reality.’’

He added, ‘’Last night my beautiful daughter Kielan was attacked on the street. I was with her in hospital until the early hours.’’

He also shows the deepest gratitude for those who saved her and help her get out of the situation. He said she was most in need, and to the wonderful carers and health workers, he shows appreciation. She will be alright but it will take time for her to get back.

Meddick and his family have been subject to death threats recently. Victorian government’s controversial pandemic legislation led to protests against Meddick. He is one of the main crossbenchers who forced amendments to the bill. Meddick believes that the attack might be in response to his role as an MP and the position he has taken on pandemic response.
