Twitter has suffered a “massive” drop in advertising revenue
Amid recent changes including moderating content on the platform, Twitter suffered massive drops in advertising revenue. Companies like Omnicom, a major advertising group, cited the impersonation problem as a major reason for its clients should pause advertising on the platform. Earlier in November, Bloomberg reports that government entities will not pay for blue ticks.
According to tech news site The Verge, Twitter growth rates have hit ‘’all-time highs’’ since Elon Musk’s takeover. It has nearly 238 million daily users and has passed 250 million since the takeover. Since Musk Twitter’s leadership, top advertising executive, Sarah Personette has left advertisers wondering about their concerns. Meanwhile, in order to survive the upcoming economic downturn, platform revenue needs to come from subscriptions. According to Twitter’s last set of annual results, advertising accounted for 90% of its $5.1 bn in revenue.
