TikTok Is Testing A New Tipping Feature

TikTok is experimenting with a new tool that allows the users to tip some creators directly on their profiles. According to sources, it is notice that the feature in-app and apply for approval, any money tipped to the creator will directly go to that individual without any cut from TikTok.

To be eligible for this new feature, the account must be in good standing, with at least 100,000 followers, meet the age requirement, and also agrees to the tips terms and conditions. If the creator meets the set criteria, they can apply for the tool- however, it is not clear yet, anyone who applies get the approval or not.

TikTok user Jera bean posted a video talking about the new feature. She also made a follow-up video where the application seems to move quickly. Jera Bean’s account displays a ‘’tip’’ button for the users to a page where they can tip her $5, $10, $15, or a custom amount. Additionally, the amount can be send anonymously.

‘’ We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community. And enrich the TikTok experience, a spokesperson for the company said.

Age requirement

The user must be of 18 years or older to send tips to creators, but it doesn’t appear that the user has to be following the account. Though, the feature is being tested on limited accounts for time being. Also, TikTok decline to comment on the availability of the feature for the creators.

TikTok is offering different ways to its creators to earn money. Also, other platforms use the tipping feature for the creators. It is also a strategy to attract users towards monetization. It helps them which ultimately increases the popularity of the platform.

Re-branding, introducing new features and allowing users to use different ways. also, to earn provide an opportunity for the companies for growth. Facebook rebranding its name to Meta also seems a strategy to divert the audience’s attention from the negative stories.
