The popular app TikTok adds new settings for addicted users through in-app screen time control. They knew the setting will allow users to take a break from uninterrupted use. Like many competitors TikTok already has a maximum screen time setting for each day, to stop users from idle scrolling. However, the firm is looking for more measures to keep it a more user-benefit app. The users will be allowed to set their own screen time.
Feedback for TikTok users about the amount of time
A new screen time dashboard will provide feedback for users including the amount of time spend on the app, how often they open it, usage during the night time and breakdown of the day. A TikTok blog post said, ‘’ At TikTok, we believe that our digital experiences should bring us joy, entertainment, connection and enrichment.’’
It further said, ‘’ Having a positive relationship with digital services and apps isn’t just about measuring screen time. It’s also about feeling in control of how we use technology and ensuring that the time we spend online contributes positively to our sense of wellbeing. That’s why we are taking several steps today to help support our community’s digital wellbeing as they create and discover on TikTok.’’
Parents to manage the screen of their Children
Earlier this week, Apple also introduce a new set of options for parents to manage the screen time of their children. In this new feature, kids can send a text asking their parents for extra screen time and get approval in-app, rather than handing the phone over. Or entering a passcode for permission.
Meanwhile, parents can automatically set up the phone. It requires a single collection of recommended settings based on a child’s data. It includes the kids’ age, with screen-time limits and bedtimes enforced automatically.
These new requirements and settings allow tech companies to be more aware of the children. Also, how they use the services.
