Telstra, the Australian telecommunications company, has successfully sold vacant land adjacent to its global operations centre (GOC) in Clayton, Victoria. The land, located in Melbourne’s south-east, was put up for sale at the end of the previous year.
While initial reports suggested that the sale included the land hosting the GOC, it has been clarified that Telstra has retained ownership of the center and the land on which it is built. This land is situated at the rear of the sale site and holds a separate title.
The transaction is believed to have a value of approximately $30 million and was recently reported by the Australian Financial Review.
A Telstra spokesperson confirmed the sale, stating, “We’ve finalized the sale of the vacant land next to our global operations centre in Clayton, Victoria to Monash University. This follows an expressions of interest process we opened in December due to interest shown in the site.”
It is worth noting that Telstra had previously sold its Clayton data centre complex for $416.7 million, entering into a leaseback arrangement with the new owner.
