Domain Group, a real estate marketplace operator, has appointed Shane Watt, former security chief at Boral, as its new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Domain Group has not confirmed whether this is a newly created role or who previously held responsibility for cybersecurity. Watt announced his appointment on LinkedIn. The company’s 2022 annual reports outlined some of the security strategy goals for the fiscal year 2023, including identifying weaknesses, detecting anomalous events, protecting critical assets, incident response, and recovery capabilities. Domain Group aims to enhance existing policies, standards, processes, and technologies to minimize the impact and likelihood of threats such as fraud, terrorism, privacy violations, and service interruptions. Watt previously served as CISO at Boral and News Corp, as well as holding security positions at Travelex and the UK Competition Commission. Following Watt’s departure, Boral has named Nidhin Tamil, the head of cyber defense, operations, and engineering, as its new CISO.
