Sydney- Prime Minster Scott Morrison officially opened Intellicentre 3 East hyper-scale data centre an initiation of Macquarie Government and Macquarie Data centres. The project’s initial investment is more than $85 million and supported over 1200 cyber security, engineering, IT and construction jobs.
The project aims to accelerate the digital economy as well as bolster the cyber security posture. Moreover, it is to support Australian government organizations, global multinationals and Australian corporations.
Speaking at the event, Scott Morrison said, “This Centre we are finally opening today. It is about the economy. It is about the digital world that is transforming the world, and it is about our security.’’
Australian owned and Australian operated system
It is one of the campuses that would be own and operate by Australia makes most trusted security system. Additionally, a team of highly trained engineers will provide data storage capability.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said, ‘’Our Government has set a goal of Australia is a top 10 digital economy by 2030. An essential foundation of such a goal is trust and confidence, trust in the regulatory systems of a country, and confidence it can meet the increasing cyber challenges in our world. Espionage, disinformation, cyber-attacks, foreign interference, and economic coercion – these types of malignant activities mounting in our world.’’
Intellicentre 3 East hyperscalers data
To protect data in Australia, IC3 East was built according to cyber security standards. It includes Federal Government–level SCEC Zone 3 or higher security, ISO 27001, and SOC 2. It is operates 24x7x365 by Government-cleared engineers and incorporates ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety management) . Moreover, ISO 14001 (environmental management) to fulfil modern business requirements.
Furthermore, Aidan Tudehope, Macquarie Government managing director said that it has the capability, and support Australian government organisations as they encounter increase cyber threats.
“The world has changed quite dramatically in recent years and particularly in recent months. This has had a direct impact on the level of cybercriminal activity which is landing on Australian shores,” he said.
