The Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has issued an urgent certificate of recall for the Eve-branded products that contain the ingredient apronal, also known as allylisopropylacetylurea. This ingredient has been banned in many countries for its potential to cause harm to consumers.

It is possible that the Eve-branded products contain this ingredient if they are labelled as containing a combination of ibuprofen, paracetamol, and caffeine. As the ingredient apronal is used as a hypnotic or sedative in headache medications, individuals taking these medicines are urged to check their medicine cabinets to ensure they are not using such products.

Apronal, also known as ACE, (2-Isopropyl-4-pentenoyl) urea or apronalide, was once used as a hypnotic sedative in Australia but has since been withdrawn from clinical use due to its dangerous side effects.

The TGA has found apronal in various imported Eve-branded products such as Eve Quick for Headache, Eve Quick for Headache DX, Eve A and Eve A EX; as it is classified as a Schedule 10 poison, its sale, supply and use are strictly prohibited.
