Queensland Railway network is actively seeking a new Chief Information and Digital Officer (CIDO) to guide its digital transformation journey. This strategic move follows the amicable departure of former CIDO, Boon Beh, who concluded his tenure in November 2023 to rejoin Incitec Pivot as CIO.
In the interim, Arnaud Franjou is steering the CIDO’s responsibilities, ensuring continuity in Queensland Rail’s ambitious digital agenda. The role’s significance is underscored by its recent elevation to the executive leadership team, reflecting the organization’s commitment to digital innovation as it prepares for significant milestones, including the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
Bec Munn, Group Executive for People and Culture, emphasized the CIDO’s role as a linchpin in Queensland Rail’s executive leadership, shaping technology and digital strategies that bolster operational effectiveness. The new CIDO will lead a vibrant team dedicated to propelling Queensland Rail into the digital era, focusing on enhancing community connectivity and establishing a world-class digital railway.
With an eye on the future, Queensland Rail is poised to integrate an impressive $20 billion in new rail assets to accommodate burgeoning population growth and the demands of the upcoming Olympics. This strategic expansion includes leveraging cutting-edge AI technology for virtual 3D inspections of railway infrastructure, a testament to Queensland Rail’s innovative approach to modernizing its services.
The partnership with DXC Technology since 2019 has been pivotal in managing IT services and transitioning Queensland Rail’s SAP environment onto Microsoft Azure. These advancements are part of Queensland Rail’s sustained efforts to evolve its technological capabilities and deliver exceptional service to Queensland communities.
