Porsche sports car brand have launched a high performance electric vehicle in Australia.The variant of the Taycan sports EV is new Taycan Turbo GT sedan with Weissach package. The latest Taycan model offers impressive power, reaching up to 760 kW. It can briefly increase to 815 kW for quick moves, like passing another car on a race track. It also provides a strong torque of 1340 Nm.
Its maximum speed is now 305 km/h, an increase from the previous 290 km/h of the standard Taycan Turbo S.Thanks to these enhancements, Porsche has set a new record time at the renowned Nürburgring track. It completed a lap in just over 7 minutes, beating last year’s Tesla Model S Plaid by 18 seconds.
The Taycan Turbo GT sedan with the Weissach package includes unique features. One notable feature is the “attack-mode,” which adds up to 120 kW of extra power for 10 seconds with the push of a button.
This version also focuses on reducing weight, being 70 kg lighter than the standard Taycan. This is achieved by using aluminum instead of various steel parts and removing the back seats. In place of the seats, there’s carbon-fiber trim and extra storage space.
Porsche has not disclosed the specific battery powering its drivetrain; however, it is anticipated that the new 2024 Taycan will utilize a 105 kWh battery pack, similar to the one found in the track-focused sedan. This battery would support an 800 V system, enabling rapid charging from 10% to 80% within approximately 18 minutes.
The pricing for the new Taycan Turbo GT has been unveiled, starting at $416,600 before additional costs. For residents of NSW, this equates to an initial price of $449,160 when driven off the lot. Notably, this price is more than $40,000 higher than the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.
