In a recent and somewhat surprising turn of events, a popular supplement powder has been urgently recalled from hundreds of health stores and pharmacies across Australia, including notable retailers like Chemist Warehouse.

Metagenics Australia Pty Ltd, a prominent player in the health and wellness industry, confirmed the recall of a batch of its Ethical Nutrients Mega Magnesium Raspberry Powder. This drastic measure was taken due to concerns that the product might cause “tingling, burning, and numbness” in consumers, a side effect attributed to an excessive amount of pyridoxine, commonly known as Vitamin B6.

In a statement, the Therapeutic Goods Administration revealed that a manufacturing error has resulted in the pyridoxine content being twice the quantity indicated on the label. This surpasses the recommended daily dose of 100mg slightly. Consuming an excessive amount of pyridoxine may lead to sensations of tingling, burning, and numbness.

The TGA verified that the affected batch had been distributed across the entire country. Be on the lookout for a batch bearing an expiry date of July 2025 and batch number 007764. If you possess a product matching these specifications, you can return it to the place of purchase for a complete refund.

The TGA statement urged, “Should you have acquired batch 007764 of Ethical Nutrients Mega Magnesium Raspberry Powder, refrain from using it.” You can locate the batch number on the bottle’s side, near the usage instructions and close to the barcode. Kindly return the item to the establishment of purchase to obtain a refund.
