Community organizations and local councils throughout NSW are encouraged to submit grant applications for the Community Building Partnership (CBP) program, aiming to enhance their towns and suburbs for residents. This program supports infrastructure projects that bring about positive social, environmental, and recreational outcomes while fostering community participation, inclusion, and cohesion.
Since its inception in 2009, the program has provided over $436 million to fund more than 19,700 projects across the state, ranging from constructing access ramps for community halls to upgrading local sports facilities.
Incorporated not-for-profit community organizations and local councils are eligible to apply for grants ranging from $5,000 to $150,000. These grants should be used for building, refurbishing, or repairing community infrastructure, or acquiring freestanding equipment or vehicles.
Each state electorate is eligible for a maximum of $300,000 in funding, with applications assessed against other proposed projects within the same electorate.
NSW Premier Chris Minns expressed the program’s significance, stating, “I’ve seen first-hand how these grants make a difference to local communities. Whether it’s repairs to a clubhouse kitchen or installing playground shade sails, these grants provide lasting benefits across NSW. We know this is a longstanding program that works year on year, and communities have been eagerly awaiting its launch for 2023 – so we’re pleased to do exactly that.”
The deadline for grant applications is 5:00 PM on Friday, October 27, 2023. Interested parties can apply by visiting the Community Building Partnership website for more details and application.
