New industry coalition to combat threats to the security of key infrastructure

With the opening of the Critical Infrastructure – Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (CI-ISAC) on the Sunshine Coast city of Maroochydore, Australia will get a new cyber infrastructure information sharing network.

All 537 Australian local governments, according to co-founder and CEO David Sandell, want to join because “every piece of Australia’s vital infrastructure is in the territory of a local government.”

According to CI-ISAC, there are up to 11,000 organisations in Australia that might join, including ones involved in “anything from banking, water and electricity systems, supermarkets, and mining,” according to the organisation.

“This result can only be attained with all industry actors being members of CI-ISAC, and working together with collective transparency,” he stated.

Before relocating to Australia, Sandell worked in cyber security and threat intelligence for a number of companies in the financial sector, including Deutsche Bank and Schroders. She then accepted positions with NAB and ANZ Banking Group.
