Q: What sparked your entrepreneurial journey?

Jason: My entrepreneurial journey began with my curiosity – I’m curious about stuff. I’ve never been satisfied with just “following the pack”, and I’ve never been able to “just accept” what’s thrown my way. One thing that elevated my journey was understanding, and having an interest in, the psychology of human nature. I’ve always seen a link between creativity and technology, and how they intertwine with underlying psychological concepts. I try to blend everything I do with the root of what makes people make decisions and have certain points of view. We all have to challenge the status quo and ask questions to better understand the root of the matter and build great businesses.

Q: How did you hone your entrepreneurial vision?

Jason: I started building. I got my hands dirty. I learned how to do the job myself before hiring or “teaching” others. I stopped making excuses, and I practiced what I preached. I honed my entrepreneurial “self” by providing marketing consultative services to a diverse range of companies – everything from building websites, building software, reframing messaging, and creating advertising strategies. I also started building my own small companies and learning everything I could about startup life. I hired a team, I executed small ideas, and I failed a lot! It was through these early experiences that I began to understand the profound impact that a holistic understanding of technology and human behavior could have on business.

Q: What was your most formidable startup challenge?

Jason: My most formidable startup challenge revolved around dismantling the barriers that people tend to impose upon themselves and challenging the subjective idea that people often mistake for objective truths. People oftentimes overinflate their contribution as a way to “feel” as if they are providing value – myself included. Nothing is new. Nothing is unique. It’s all about being aware of that and capitalizing on trends. I let the data do the talking and crafted processes that accounted for the misconceptions prevalent in the startup world – we oftentimes make mountains out of molehills. I learned the invaluable lesson that perseverance and a systematic approach can lead to breakthroughs in even the most challenging circumstances. There’s no need to spend 4 hours re-hashing the same idea over-and-over, when you had the answer to your problem in the first 3 minutes.

Q: What is your greatest achievement since you started your business?

Jason: My greatest achievement since I started my business has been failing often and loving when failure happens. My second greatest achievement is learning that technical knowledge and a deep desire to “cut out the fluff” is essential in startups. I’m constantly learning. I think I’m able to translate this knowledge into action. I built processes for my marketing agency, enabling us to achieve the remarkable feat of doubling our growth each year for three consecutive years. How do we keep growing? We have a great team, we set realistic expectations, we don’t overinflate anything that we do, and we let the data lead the decisions.

Q: What is your vision for the future?

Jason: My vision for the future is to build great businesses and empower individuals through a combination of great tech and unveiling the influence of psychology on our decisions – something that spans across marketing, technology, and all areas of business. I want to help people work smarter, enjoy what they do, and savor every moment of life. I want to inspire others to join the journey of breaking free from the ordinary, leaving an indelible mark that transcends industries and transforms lives. Just start! I often say, “Marketing isn’t magic; it’s a means of communication.” I think that this applies to all industries, not just marketing. There is no magic pill; there is just hard work, problem-solving, and “learning how to learn” from the many failures we SHOULD all be making.
