Microsoft-owned LinkedIn has announced plans to cut 716 jobs across its sales, operations, and support teams, while also phasing out its local jobs app in China. CEO Ryan Roslansky explained that the cuts were aimed at streamlining operations and expanding the use of vendors to better serve emerging and growth markets. The changes will also involve removing management layers and broadening responsibilities to speed up decision-making. However, the company will create 250 new jobs. Employees affected by the layoffs will be eligible to apply for these new roles. LinkedIn also announced the elimination of its slimmed-down jobs application in China, which had faced stiff competition and a challenging economic environment. The remaining China app, InCareers, will be phased out by August 9.
