Kmart Recalls Anko Baby Activity Chair after Safety Alert

Kmart Australia has announced an urgent recall of the Anko Baby Activity Chair, a popular baby product, after Australia’s consumer safety watchdog, the ACCC’s product safety division, warned it posed a choking hazard.

Released through a consumer release on their website, Kmart explained the Anko Baby Activity Chair had been sold in their stores between September 2020 and July 2023, and potentially contains a choking hazard for small children.

“The material stitching around the elephant’s ear that secures the small plastic mirror may fail and release the mirror, which would make this product not compliant with the mandatory standard for toys for children up to and including 36 months of age,” the watchdog stated.

Parents should stop using the recalled baby chair immediately and return it to Kmart or a K Hub store for a full refund; this is the second product from Anko that Kmart has recalled this year. In April, Kmart discontinued the sale of Anko Kids Digital Watch due to inadequate battery compartment security, allowing for potential access to the button batteries.
