Collins Aerospace has completed a milestone test of its next -generation spacesuit in microgravity. The company is developing a new spacesuit for Nasa. The space suit is fit for functionality and promises great quality.
Nasa said in a statement that it’s very important for the International Space Station to continue operations. The company Collins has successfully completed the test moving towards more advanced spacesuits.
Peggy Guirgis, general Manager, Space system, for Collins Aerospace said that the company ensures safety and comfort of the next generation of space explorers. The test allowed us to examine specific objectives of the spacesuit design. The suit is lighter in weight and lower volume than NASA’s current spacesuits.
Meanwhile, the company has engaged former astronauts and current staff to guide design choices. Meanwhile, additional evaluations are scheduled for the spacesuit test. Collins is an American space agency that develops suits that can replace the current one for NASA.
The new suit will incorporate the latest technology that is more efficient. Also, it is durable and requires less maintenance than the current spacesuit. The test was conducted on a commercial microgravity aircraft. NASA is hopeful that with the new spacesuit, some of the current obsolescence issues can be addressed and helps in life support systems.
