The Kosmosuit, an integrated commercial spacesuit program developed by Australian spacesuit technology startup company Metakosmos (Vyom Tech Pty Ltd), will receive $250,000 in funding from the Mars Supply Chain Capability program.
The program, which is part of the Moon to Mars initiative, aims to support Australian space projects that align with NASA’s Artemis mission and enhance the Australian space industry’s skills, capabilities and participation in the supply chains for the Moon and Mars missions.
Metakosmos says the funding will help the company advance the technological readiness of the Kosmosuit, which has been designed for various environments and applications, such as micro-gravity, lunar and Martian surfaces, and space-based missions.
The project will also focus on establishing connectivity between subsystems and the proprietary bioastronautics interface, which will be deployed at various centres.
Metakosmos CEO Kiriti Rambhatla expressed his gratitude for the grant and thanked the Australian Government, the Minister for Industry & Science Ed Husic and the Australian Space Agency.
