James Hardie, a building materials firm, has added a new global chief information officer(CIO) to its executive team.
After formally taking on the US-based post in December 2021, James Johnson will head the ASX-listed company’s IT and cyber security responsibilities.
He will be in charge of connecting the company’s technological strategy and planning with its overall goals.
The appointment comes barely two weeks after James Hardie ousted its CEO, Jack Truong, following an investigation that found him to have acted improperly.
Interim CEO Harold Wiens said in a statement that Johnson “brings a great track record of IT leadership and of building successful, cutting-edge technology solutions that produce business value.”
“James and his team will develop a focused Information Technology vision and strategy that aligns with and supports the JHX global strategic plan,” he added.
Johnson expressed his delight in joining James Hardie at “such an exciting moment.”
“It’s thrilling to be able to join a firm that has altered considerably over the last three years and now be a part of the next chapter of profitable expansion,” he added.
During his 25-year career, Johnson has held senior roles with a number of construction, materials, and manufacturing firms.
Johnson spent eight years as the vice president and chief information officer of Carpenter Technology, a material and manufacturing firm, before joining James Hardie.
