Here we sit down with Lauren, to know a bit more about her journey as a business mentor.
Q. What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?
Lauren: My two young children are ‘why’ I was inspired to become an entrepreneur. I think I have always been an entrepreneur at heart. From a young age, I could always visualize two things in my future; becoming a Mum and running my own entrepreneurial business. I started my first holistic health business from the age of 17 as a mobile remedial masseuse. I always had an interest in health and wellbeing and then went on to study at university and followed a traditional career path in health care for over 2o years.
Becoming an entrepreneur remained a huge goal of mine and I was inspired to become a ‘Mumpreneur’ when I had my two children.
I no longer wanted to spend long hours away from my family and I knew working weekends and shift work was not going to allow me to be the present mum that I had always wanted to be.
I knew there had to be a better way. I was inspired to become an entrepreneur to find a family-work-life balance and to create an amazing abundant lifestyle for my family.
I now get to work towards achieving my own personal goals and dreams whilst helping others do the same every day, which is really fulfilling. I have finally found something that I am passionate about and I love what I do.
Q. How did you get started?
Lauren: When I was on maternity leave with my son I went looking for an online solution to stay at home with him. I explored a few options and finally found this home-based business in the personal development industry that ticked all of the boxes. My son was just 11 months old when I got started, so in the early days, I ran the business very part-time in the nooks and crannies of my day around his naps. This allowed me to spend plenty of quality time with my children during the day.
I had always been motivated to achieve financial freedom and I have loved personal development all of my life. So this business made perfect sense to me. I feel like it found me at the right time and I’ve never looked back. The training and support is exceptional which gave me the confidence to make the life-changing decision to get started.
I have learned through studying personal development concepts that small changes in your life can add up to big results over time. It is important to dedicate time every day to create the life that you want. Do at least one thing every day to move forward towards your goal. One thing every day adds up to 365 new things in a year!
Visualise where you will be and who you will become 12 months from now following this strategy. Take the next step no matter how small. Consistency is the key to getting results.
Inspiring others to change their life for the better is what drives me and is a huge motivating factor to continue on this path.
Q. What was your biggest startup challenge? What steps did you take to overcome it? What did you learn?
Lauren: I had a great career in healthcare and I thought that’s what I would do for the rest of my life. However, my priorities changed when I started my family. Becoming an entrepreneur and stepping outside the box of a traditional career choice took boldness and courage.
That very first step to getting started was the hardest one of all. I didn’t know if I would be successful and was unsure about putting ourselves out there into the world. Contradictory to my previous beliefs I have had life-changing personal growth and a wealth of positive experiences since starting on this journey. I encourage anyone who is dreaming of becoming an entrepreneur to take that first step.
Diving into Personal Development has helped me to work on my mindset, giving me the ability to see beyond my self-limiting beliefs that have held me back in the past.
Taking that single first step has been the single best career move that I have ever made!
Q. What is the Most Memorable Thing You’ve Done Since you Started your Business?
Lauren: I got started in this online business just before the crazy lockdowns in Nov 2019. At the time I had a baby and I was homeschooling my daughter who was in Prep. Seeing my business grow and flourish during the pandemic is my most memorable success to date.
This business allowed me to be able to work from home and be there for my kids when they needed me the most. This was the ultimate demonstration from the universe that I was in the right place and I had made the right decision to become an entrepreneur. I had found that flexibility and balance between motherhood and the career that I had set out to achieve.
I am building a better life for my family and I’m so excited about my future now. It is so exciting being able to reach a global audience from my kitchen bench and be able to work around my kids at the same time. They also love getting involved in this family-friendly business. They love helping me with little things like delivering pamphlets around the neighborhood. I love sharing this business journey with my children.
Q. What is one book you recommend, and why?
Lauren: ‘Dare to Dream and work to win’ by Dr. Tom Barrett is a great book for anyone who is starting out on their entrepreneurial journey. It was recommended to me when I got started in the industry and now I recommend it to all the people I mentor. It teaches you how to think and live as an entrepreneur and achieve success in business through consistency.
Q. What are your top 3 favourite online apps, tools, or resources and what do you love about them?
Lauren: My top online tool is simply:
- Google Calendar. I plan out my day with this online calendar. It is invaluable. To be a Mumpreneur you have to be organised and stick to a schedule. It helps me to organise my kids around my work.
- Canva. For creating engaging professional social media posts and marketing assets for my business on the go.
- Mobile Audible App. I listen to all my Personal development books and podcasts on the go with Audible books.
Q. In terms of legacy, what is the mark you’d like to leave on the world?
Lauren: “Once upon a time, you were just a kid with big dreams that you promised you’d make real one day. Don’t disappoint yourself.” Jim Rohn
My children are my inspiration and my legacy. They are truly magical, bursting with natural optimism, energy, and excitement. They are born knowing that anything is truly possible and they are on a mission to achieve big things in their life. I want to provide them with the right support and the best education so they can achieve their dreams and realise their true passion and potential in life.
I want to mentor and inspire as many people as possible from around the globe to achieve their goals and dreams and live a successful fulfilling life. I believe personal development has the power to help individuals change their lives and ultimately reshape the world for the better.
Q. In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?
Lauren: Nourish and fill your mind with the right information and you can achieve anything you put your mind to!
