Heather Sullivan is the Founder of The Golden Hour Coaching, based in Los Angeles. This company provides coaching services to people that are in some type of career & life transition. Whether that be looking for your next promotion, wanting to change industries, or moving across the country to name a few.
The Golden Hour Coaching offers you a transition from your external world back to your internal world – the world of inner wisdom and courage. Often, people lose that connection to themselves and seek advice and opinions from others, developing this false belief that they are not sure what’s best for themselves. At The Golden Hour, you will be helped to reconnect to your Self, knowing that you have your own best answers to your life challenges. During our time together, you are in a judgment-free space, can speak your truth, ask for what you want, have support to live life at your full potential, and be held accountable along the way.

Here we sit down with Heather, to know a bit more about her journey as a life and transitions coach.
Q. What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?
Heather: Entrepreneurship always interested me. The idea of working for myself, and building something from the ground up had continued to be a goal of mine. As I started my coaching journey and saw others doing what I had so often craved, I knew I would learn the skills and build a thriving business that would help others advance in their careers and life.
Q. How did you get started?
Heather: I had been working in corporate America for most of my adult life, and I knew deep down inside I had to make a change. I wanted to not only better myself but to help others. Truly help them become better versions of themselves. I had an introduction call with the school I am now certified through, the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC), and two weeks later I was enrolled and starting down my coaching road. I currently am a Certified Professional Coach, ELI-MP™, and COR.E Dynamics | Transitions Dynamics™ Specialist (CTDS).
I am extremely passionate about coaching and helping my clients! After going through bigger transitions in my own life; cross-country moves, career pivots, and relationship changes, I have the skills to get clients on the right path.
Q. What was your biggest startup challenge? What steps did you take to overcome it? What did you learn?
Heather: My biggest challenge starting out was having the belief in myself. The belief is that I could do this on my own, succeed, stay happy, and be positive along the way. Thankfully being a coach I can often coach myself through these times but I also leaned on critical family, friends, and mentors to help me through.
I am not going to say that every day has been easy, but today I can say I have worked on the exercises that help me to stay grounded and ensure I am in the right frame of mind, mentally, to succeed for myself and most importantly my clients.
Q. What is the Most Memorable Thing You’ve Done Since you Started your Business?
Heather: My most memorable moment is definitely my first official paying client. As I mentioned confidence earlier, I was struggling a bit and having self-doubt asking myself questions like the following: can you really do this on your own?, are you sure YOU can do THIS and charge for it?, I think you need more “practice”? etc.
Instead of sitting in that doubt for too long, I decided to offer out free coaching to a Facebook group I’m a member of. I was hoping this would allow me to not only strengthen my coaching skills but take my confidence up a few notches. With that being said, I took on six clients for a total of six weeks.
As I came to the final call with one of these clients I was definitely nervous, excited, and feeling like our work together was not done. At the end of that final session, that became the continuation of a great partnership, and said client signed on for a paying package! And to boot, she is now thriving in her own business.
Q. What is one book you recommend, and why?
Heather: The last book I read was, The Girl with the Loading Voice, by Abi Dare. I would highly recommend it as it is a story of a girl who overcomes many struggles and truly fights for her dreams of helping herself and others.
Q. What are your top 3 favourite online apps, tools, or resources and what do you love about them?
Heather: My three favorite daily/weekly go-to’s, in no particular order, are the Peloton app, Optimal Living Daily podcast, and the Smartless podcast.
Peloton keeps my mental and physical self in check. I not only use their workouts but often their meditation as well.
Optimal Living Daily is a great way to have someone else read to you from blogs. Haha! But in all seriousness, it is a quick way to get daily inspiration and the best content on personal development, productivity, and so much more. This has definitely become part of my daily routine!
And Smartless is a no-brainer… jam-packed with laughs, the host’s banter in itself is worth checking out.
Q. In terms of legacy, what is the mark you’d like to leave on the world?
Heather: I have helped a lot of people work through their “clouds” and get to their golden hour of clarity and transformation.
Q. In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?
Heather: Trust the process, and take it one day at a time…do not worry about 12 months from now, make today count!
