Here we sit down with Tania, to know a bit more about her journey as a mindset mentor.
Q. What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?
Tania: As a very creative person and risk taker I believe it was natural for me to be an entrepreneur, but to be completely honest the thing that led me into the entrepreneurial space was money. I was an entrepreneur before I even knew what the word meant!
Being an entrepreneur means freedom, creativity, abundance, risk-taking, challenge, reward and most of all legacy. I am creating something that I would love to surpass me. Something that future “me’s” will be proud of.
As I said became an entrepreneur because I wanted to make “lots of money” but once I achieved that goal I was then inspired by others succeeding around me, not just my success. Eventually leading me into the coaching and mentoring space. Money got me going but contribution and growth are what keep me going.
Q. How did you get started?
Tania: I got into business very young, I was 19. I was in the hairdressing industry back then. So having had thousands of clients, hundreds of staff and multiple salons across Melbourne’s Shopping Centres, I developed a passion for coaching, as I said others’ successes seem to motivate and inspire me as much as my own. I coached and trained all of my staff for over 25 years and I developed an extraordinary passion for personal development and excellence.
I could see how changing people’s perspectives and showing them how to think in a different way, led them to results that they never thought possible. This not only increased our bottom line in business but as a team, we were so much happier.
You could feel the high vibration in the air, everything just became easier, effortless you could say. Even back then when my hairdressing businesses were booming I knew that I would have my own coaching business. In 2012 I decided to sell up in the hairdressing industry and made it my goal to begin my coaching and mentoring journey. I have never looked back.
Q. What was your biggest startup challenge? What steps did you take to overcome it? What did you learn?
Tania: My biggest start-up challenge was probably my own EGO that I had to overcome. What I mean by that is as Mindstate Coaching is predominantly an online business, for me this was a completely new business model. I had a lot of learning to do. I went from master to student in an instant. In the early days, I did have doubts, fears and anxiety because this was the biggest risk I had taken in many years.
The negative self-talk started to creep in. Looking back this was an amazing opportunity for me because it took my coaching to a completely new level. I developed a new goal-achieving system that has led me to smash out all of the goals that I set for myself and now my students have the opportunity to learn my method as well. I have not looked back. The benefit of me as their coach is that I am not a theorist.
I don’t just teach this stuff, I live it. I can with personal experience and great confidence show people how to manifest a life that they truly desire. How to use their thoughts and emotions in their favour and not have them work against them.
The best thing about all that I teach is that it’s not hard. Anyone can learn it and be successful at it. It doesn’t matter what industry they’re in or how much experience they have. It doesn’t even matter what current results they’re getting. It’s never too soon or too late to start. You just have to start. Knowing the results that my clients are going to get just drives me to coach more and more people and train more coaches to do what I do.
What is the most memorable thing you’ve done since you started your business?
Tania: There are really so many memorable moments since I started Mindstate Coaching. From watching teens start a new business venture from scratch to being nominated as a top 20 coaches in 2022. But the one that stands out the most has to be the story of a single mum. From when we met to 3 years on, it’s a completely different person. Not only has she transformed her bank account and her business but she is becoming unrecognisable physically.
She has been extremely open to what I teach and 100% coachable and her results are speaking for themselves. By learning some specific new skills, implementing my strategies and overcoming her thoughts and emotions she was able to lift her business that has been stagnated for the last few years. Improve her financial situation dramatically and like I said now is working hard on her physical transformation. She realised that to be truly successful we must work on all the areas in our life because they in turn support one another and make achieving set goals a lot easier.
She understood my concept of focusing on one area at a time and NOT multi-tasking! What happens when we focus on one goal at a time is we get there quicker and they generally support the next goal and so on. So even though some people might be impatient and wish to get achieve 3,4 or even 5 goals at once, I strongly advise against it as I know they will get there quicker if they focus on 1 goal at a time.
Q. What is one book you recommend, and why?
Tania: This is a hard question because I’m a big reader and I have so many favourites. But if I have to pick one it would definitely be The Alchemist.
It’s a story that really resonated with me definitely because it encourages us to follow our dreams, not only for what we think we will get but for the lessons we will learn and ultimately who we will become in the process. This is what I truly believe goals are for growth and progress.
Q. What are your top 3 favourite online apps, tools or resources and what do you love about them?
- Clickfunnel for my marketing, it’s pretty easy to use.
- Squarespace for my online booking system that I operate on Instagram.
- Zoom because I can coach one-to-many or one-to-one from anywhere in the world.
Q. In terms of legacy, what is the mark you’d like to leave on the world?
Tania: My legacy is clear to me and it’s simply this… That I became the best version of myself so that I can provide the highest quality of life for myself and my family and teach others to do the same. I really hope my children and grandchildren feel the same and continue doing the work, but time will tell.
I would really love Mindstate Coaching to go from strength to strength. I have a very strong vision for this company and I’m so excited to manifest it as I know we are doing good in the world.
Q. In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?
Tania: Enjoy the journey, drop expectations of how you think things should unfold and allow it to happen and commit to seeing it through to the end, don’t quit no matter how long it takes.
