Google has launched its first self-design computer chip for its latest smartphones. Its latest smartphones Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 pro, both come with the new chip called Tensor. The Pixel Pro would be the first in the series designed to compete in the market.

Besides, both the new latest phones, the focus on the phone features powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro

On Tuesday, Google launched its long-awaited new smartphones through the virtual stage. However, the event was more about the hardware powering the devices that will come from the new AI capabilities and new software.

After years of mid-range phones, Google is now going for flagship phones. They are trying to take the place in the market by introducing new and better features.

The regular Pixel 6 comes with a 6.4-inch display, completely flat screen, and two cameras, and google pixel 6 pro comes with a 6.7-inch display, wide ultra, and 4X zoom lens. There might be some memory differences, however, the major change both have is the Tensor SOC.

Talking to BBC, Rick Osterloh, and Google’s head of devices says,

‘’ The whole goal when we started was to reach this point. This is the original version that we were finally able to get to after building a lot of capabilities both in technology and product development capabilities. ‘’

New AI stuff and features

These are the few significant features of the Tensor chip’s on Device

One of the most significant changes is in photography. The new feature called Face Unblur puts the face of a subject-in-motion in focus while maintaining the rest of the blur.

The camera takes two pictures simultaneously, one from the main camera and the other from an ultra-wide camera. It works by tapping into Google research face-detection ML mode called FaceSSD. If the face is blurry, the pixel will automatically spin up they provide faster exposure to a super sharp image.

Osterloh says, ‘’ for a long time, Pixel has been known for awesome photography, which is truly a function of our ability to do AI-driven, machine-learning-driven improvements to the camera experience.’’

The new Pixel 6 price starts at £599/$599, while the Pro model will cost £849/$899.
