Giant tech company Google faces a €25bn (£21.6bn) lawsuit in the UK and EU over digital advertising. The tech firm is accused of abusing its power and anticompetitive conduct in the tech market.

The firm coordinates the sale of online advertising space between advertisers and publishers. Moreover, it is among the top key players in the online market. And enjoy the dominance in the search engine. Damien Geradin, of the Belgian law firm Geradin Partners, said, ‘’ Publishers, including local and national news media, play a vital role in our society. They have long been harmed by Google’s anticompetitive conduct.’’

The process could take a more extended period to reach a conclusion

He added, “It’s time that Google owns as much as its duties and pays again the damages it has induced to this essential business. That’s the reason right now we’re saying these actions throughout two jurisdictions to acquire compensation for EU and UK publishers.”

Humphries Kerstetter, a UK law firm, is planning to carry the case to the competition appeal tribunal. However, the process could take a more extended period to reach a conclusion. Meanwhile, the UK competition watchdog is investigating Google’s power in the digital advertising technology market.

The Lawsuit is speculative and opportunistic, said Google

Meanwhile, a Google spokesperson mentioned:  “Google works constructively with publishers throughout Europe – our promoting instruments, and people of our many tech opponents, assist hundreds of thousands of internet sites and apps, fund their content material, and allow companies of all sizes to attain new prospects successfully. These providers adapt and evolve in partnership with those self-same publishers. This lawsuit is speculative and opportunistic. Once we obtain the grievance, we’ll battle it vigorously.”

The European Union has been very restrictive and careful about digitalisation and technology. Also, there are Laws to control the tech giants over the past few years.
