head of payments technology at Westpac is moving to NAB

Andrew Burgher, the head of payments technology at NAB, has moved to Westpac to take on a similar post as head of payments and global transaction services.

Burgher announced on LinkedIn that he is “glad to announce my new role” at Westpac, which will begin in June.

“I’m excited to get to know the team, expand on the solid foundations, and embrace this exciting period for payments and GTS.” I can’t wait to get started!”

Burgher expressed his gratitude for “all the support, and having had the opportunity to grow and enjoy in the success of the people and businesses that I’ve helped” during his time at NAB in a separate LinkedIn post.

“At NAB, I’ve had the privilege of working with, caring for, and being inspired by some incredible people for the past 19 years.

“To everyone with whom I’ve collaborated, thank you for your support, and best wishes for the future.” NAB is a fantastic place to work, and I have no doubt you will continue to do amazing things there.

“Let’s move on to the next chapter.” New possibilities and, without a doubt, new problems.”

Burgher joined NAB as a solution architect in 2003 after “going from Sydney for what I assumed would be a year or two.”

Burgher reported to Nic Papanikolakis, NAB’s executive tech for transaction banking and enterprise payments.

Papanikolakis will now be in charge of technology for international payments, a position previously held by Burgher, as well as technology for domestic payments and transition banking.

Philip Little, executive CIO of corporate and institutional banking, will report to Papanikolakis.

Burgher worked as a manager at Accenture from 1997 to 2002 before joining NAB.
