Former AGL CISO joins Zscaler

Heng Mok, AGL’s former chief information security officer (CISO), has rejoined security company Zscaler in an Asia Pacific role.

Kavitha Mariappan, Zscaler’s executive vice president of customer experience and transformation, announced Mok’s hiring on Wednesday.

“Our global CISO team is growing with the appointment of Heng Mok, chief information security officer for APJ [Asia Pacific and Japan],” Mariappan said on LinkedIn.

“Heng comes to us from AGL Australia, Australia’s largest integrated energy firm, where he was CISO.”

“He has more than 20 years of expertise and has worked on some of Australia’s major IT transformation initiatives in the financial services and energy sectors.”

Mok’s presence, according to Mariappan, will help Zscaler achieve its goal of “scaling throughout the APJ area.”

Mok departed AGL at the end of last year after serving as its CISO for 18 months.

Prior to becoming CISO, Mok worked at AGL for a year and a half, directing teams that provided services, strategy, and advice in areas such as forensics, data protection, and security architecture.

Before joining AGL in June 2016, he worked as an enterprise security architect at NAB, ANZ, and IAG.

Zscaler has made inroads as a provider of services that allow remote workers to securely access corporate resources in recent years. NAB and Woodside Energy are among its Australian clients.
