Plenti, a finance company, has partnered with AGL

AGL has teamed with fintech Plenti to make it easier for customers to acquire renewable energy products. Customers may use the Plenti technology platform to get personal loans to invest in renewable and sustainable home energy solutions. AGL will use Plenti to provide clients with an interest-free payment plan for green products such as home solar batteries and solar battery bundles.

The corporation described the arrangement as a “buy now, pay later” financing solution in social media posts. “We anticipate substantial customer take-up of the credit offer to assist with the purchase of solar batteries and battery bundles,” an AGL representative told.

“When installing renewables, AGL customers frequently choose a loan option, and according to Plenti data, applications for credit for solar batteries have climbed by 80 percent in the previous six months.”

From February 2022, the deal will be available for AGL’s solar battery bundles and solar battery items. Under the terms of the deal, more AGL customers are likely to access renewable goods for their homes.

Christine Corbett, AGL’s chief customer officer, stated that the offer will provide “customers with more alternatives as many consumers who invest in renewable goods return savings through decreased home energy costs in the long term.”

“We want to provide our consumers more power and provide them with greater flexibility, affordability, and choice when it comes to their energy options,” Corbett said. Corbett went on to say that the first plan will provide “financing of up to $30,000 and flexible payback periods” across the brand’s home solar batteries and solar battery bundles.

“By allowing consumers to purchase these sustainable items, they may then participate in our virtual power plant (VPP), a network of connected solar batteries where energy is stored to assist the electrical grid,” Corbett explained.

Customers who join and contribute to our VPP may be eligible for a sign-on incentive or ongoing bill credits in exchange for allowing AGL to access power stored in their batteries, often during peak electricity demand periods.”
