FMG CEO Elizabeth Gaines withdraw as the company remodel itself with green energy

Australia- Elizabeth Gains will step down as the head of Australia’s third-largest iron ore miner, Fortescue Metals Group (FMG). She decided as the company moves to reinvent itself as green energy and resource group. Ms. Gaines had joined FMG as Chief executive officer in 2018. However, she will remain as a non-executive director on the FMG board. Also, as Fortescue’s global green hydrogen ambassador.

Ms. Gaines said, ‘’ I am glad that the chairman, Andrew Forrest AO, has invited me to remain on the board. The opportunity to continue to contribute to Fortescue and serve our shareholders is a unique privilege and I look forward to building on my nine years with Fortescue which, since 2013, has seen me serve as a non-executive director, chief financial officer and CEO.’’

Forrest Appreciate Ms. Gaines

As the company announced its transition, Mr. Forrest paid tribute to Ms. Gaines and said, ‘’ Elizabeth is one of Australia’s truly inspiring leaders.’’ He added, ‘’ we are grateful that she accepted the critical role of ensuring the world understands that green hydrogen, green ammonia, green energy, and all its products are combined. The only practical implementable solution to global warming that can be delivered on a commercial, highly sustainable basis.’’ Mr. Forrest also appreciates Elizabeth’s depth of character, leadership, respect, and global integrity.  

FMG Transition and New Green Era

FMG is transitioning from being a pure iron ore miner to a green energy provider. Australia is promoting its plans to help move the World to green hydrogen power. FMG is making plans to contribute to this world. Mr. Forrest said, ‘’ Fortescue Future Industries is making enormous progress and will support the decarbonisation of Fortescue through the innovation and technological development of a green fleet and the supply of green energy.’’

He added, that the company is going under significant transition, and he is delighted that with Elizabeth, the board is united in its vision and enthusiasm for the opportunity to this presents.

Meanwhile, Ms. Gaines has recently joined the board of the West Coast Eagles. However, FMG is now in search of a new Chief executive officer globally. Elizabeth during her interview with ABC News last year said, ‘’ I’m not scare by Change- I think some people find change very confronting, and it certainly doesn’t mean that I haven’t been confront by change at various times. But how you respond to change I think is critical.’’
